An Aerospatiale Dauphin helicopter is also housed there and is utilized as a back up aircraft. Pilots work twelve-hour shifts while the medical crews work twelve or twenty-four hour shifts. Their primary response area includes Monroe and Lenawee Counties in Michigan and Fulton, Henry, Ottawa, Wood and Lucas Counties in Ohio.

The Life Flight 1 hangar also houses specialized equipment for neonatal transports, a LifeStar Ambulance, Mobile Life 7, which is operated in partnership with Lifestar Ambulance, and Toledo Police and Fire Air One helicopter.
